Memories - Barbados Island Adventures with Rex
Rex Wotton managed the West Coast Watersports shop at Coral Reef hotel. It was just a short walk from Settlers Beach. The shop took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises around the coast. He was an expert seaman trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in all matters of navigation, and marine work.
Rex was among the most charming Rogues in Paradise. He had an infectious sense of fun and used it to win over every situation.
Rex was individualistic from the start he often disapeared for days at a time to camp around the banks of Joes' river, catching crayfish to survive. He made fires from coconut chaff and twigs and barbecued his catch with breadfruit, wild okras, plantain, and edible vines. He ate mangoes, and local berries like fat pork, and sea grapes, that grew along the beach.
